The Trustees and Committee of Collaton St Mary Parish Rooms are very pleased to announce that they have been awarded a £10,000 Grant from the Big Lottery Fund. This Grant will go a long way towards the target of £20,000 for the urgent re-roofing of the building.
Fund-raising events, grants, donations and Parish Rooms funds have so far raised £6,000, with every effort now being made to raise the balance required, in the hope that the work can be undertaken during April.
A survey by Natural England has confirmed that the roof is used by several species of bats as a roost, hence the strict law protecting bats dictates that the urgent work can only be completed between October and April. Also the Easter school holidays would be ideal as the building is used by Collaton St Mary Community Playgroup and Toddler Group.
Forthcoming fundraising events include:
- Sunday 27 Feb – 12noon – 3pm – Table Top Sale
- Saturday 5 March – 10am – 1.30pm – Drop-in Fitness Morning!
- Saturday 12 March - 10am – 12noon – Coffee Morning
- Sunday 27 March – 12noon – 3pm – Table Top Sale
As 2012 marks the centenary of the building, the Trustees and Committee are determined to ensure that this vital community base will continue for future generations.
